Nature’s Distractions

I turn away from the once again worsening pandemic, the sadness of refugees and war, and the tragic realities of life in our world. I want distractions from the worries of the day. Despite what we continue to do to her, Mother Nature gives us plenty of things to enjoy and be in awe of. I especially appreciate her gifts right now. I am not turning away from reality. Her gifts are part of our reality too.

I am distracted by the colors…

Red

Blue

Green

Yellow

And the Interesting…

I even appreciate the distraction of the annoying…

Thank you delightful distractions! You help me make it through the tough times.

Born and raised in Central Texas. Spending time outside brings me joy and I love to share my observations. I also belong to two writing groups and enjoy researching my ancestors. I find people interesting, but Nature keeps me sane.

  1. Very nice Betty. This is an excellent example of being in the present moment for me at least. Present to all that is: this screen and the sound of rain outside just now, the clicking of my keys…
We do need distractions from all of the bad news in this world. I am glad your photography provided me with this distraction just now, and to a way to chat with you a bit here. Thanks Betty!

  2. Betty, thank you for this thoughtful piece that perfectly reflects my own feelings and how I find solace in nature. The photos are truly lovely… and interesting… and annoying (ha!).

  3. Betty,
As usual the photos are lovely – I am struck by the intense colors of the flowers. I agree with you re turning to nature for a break from the news and conditions of the world.
Seems that your gov thinks one way for himself and another for the rest of Texas. Jerk!
I am on a path to try to understand how the ordinary Russian thinks about his world, the history, etc. I watch films produced in Russia with English subtitles. I have a couple of books written by a professor who teaches the subject in England and she is English. Interesting.
Hope all is well in your part of the world.
    Love, Ann
